Halloween around Navarre takes a little driving — most of what’s on this list is a short trip, and a couple are more of a road trip. Within reach there’s everything from a 25-acre haunted trail with professional scare actors to a trick-or-treat trail through the zoo, plus downtown ghost tours and a few spots that are open all year. Here’s where to go this year.

If you actually want to be scared
Festival of Fears
📍 Holt, FL (4410 Cooper Lane) and Mary Esther, FL (Oak Tree Nature Park)
The Emerald Coast’s biggest haunted attraction, run by the Wentz Brothers. The Holt location spreads across 25-plus acres with the Into the Hollow haunted trail, the Hack N’ Slash Lumber haunted house, the Blackwood Cemetery scare zone, and a monster museum — one ticket covers all of it. The Mary Esther location adds Cryptid Hollow, a three-quarter-mile trail themed around Bigfoot and every other cryptid you can think of.
It runs Friday and Saturday nights plus Halloween through October, roughly 7 to 11 PM. General admission runs about $25 to $35, with fast-pass options if you don’t want to wait in line. Recommended for ages 13 and up; anyone younger has to be with a paying adult the whole time. Parking is free at the Holt location. (Confirm this year’s exact dates and prices when you buy tickets — the schedule shifts a little each year.)
Haunted Hall of Terror
📍 1350 E. John Sims Parkway, Niceville | Saturday, October 24, 6–9 PM
For one night, an ordinary Niceville office building gets turned into a walk-through haunt. Admission is free with a nonperishable food donation for Sharing & Caring of Niceville, so you get the scares and a local food pantry gets stocked. 🥪
If you’re bringing little ones
Boo at the Zoo
📍 Gulf Breeze Zoo, 5701 Gulf Breeze Pkwy
The closest option, and the easiest with young kids. Follow the trick-or-treat trail through the zoo for candy and goodies, with bounce houses, face painting, and animal encounters along the way. It runs select weekends in October, starting October 10. Admission is $21.95 for kids 2–12, $28.95 for adults, free for under 2, and $10 for zoo members.
Sweet Season Farms Friday flashlight maze
📍 2260 Horn Road, Milton | Friday, October 23 and Friday, October 30, 6–10 PM
Spooky without being scary. Bring a flashlight and take on the corn maze after dark. A good middle ground for tweens who think Boo at the Zoo is for babies but aren’t ready for Festival of Fears.
Navarre Fall Festival
📍 2279 Highway 87 | Saturday, October 24, 11 AM – 5 PM
A local family day with vendors and activities, right here in Navarre.
Trunk-or-treats and community events
Several local churches and Navarre Park usually host trunk-or-treats close to Halloween. We’ll add this year’s list here once dates are posted — check back in early October, or see our October Events Guide.
Ghost tours and haunted history
If a full haunted house isn’t your speed, downtown Pensacola runs on ghost stories. Some of these operate year-round, but October is when they lean in.
Pensacola Haunted Walking Tour
📍 Pensacola History and Hauntings, 221 E. Government Street | multiple dates, 7–9 PM
A two-hour walk through downtown’s darker history — pirates, murders, and reported sightings — with a hands-on paranormal investigation using real ghost-hunting equipment. Glow accessories and samples from local businesses are included. Tickets run about $35 per person.
Historic Pensacola’s Haunted History Happenings
📍 Historic Pensacola, 330 S. Jefferson Street | select nights in October
Historic Pensacola tells the city’s eeriest stories a few different ways this month. Tormented Trolley Tours cover the haunted history of North Hill on October 2 and 3; the Haunted Village and Macabre Museum Mysteries walking tours run through historic homes and museum buildings on October 9, 10, 23, and 24. Tours leave at 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30 PM. Trolley tours are $25 for adults and $15 for kids 3–14; the walking tours are $20 and $15. 🕯️
Open all year, but fall is the time to go
Not everything on this list has a run date. A couple of local spots are open year-round, and this is the season they were made for.
Museum of Shadows
📍 341 N. Navy Blvd, Pensacola | Wednesday–Sunday, 2–10 PM
A genuine haunted museum, full of objects said to be attached to something. A self-guided tour is $25. If that’s not enough for you, they run a two-hour ghost hunt for $50 at 10 PM on select nights.
Pensacola Lighthouse
📍 Pensacola Lighthouse, on NAS Pensacola | ghost tour around $20 per person, ages 13+
The 1869 lighthouse is regularly named one of the most haunted in the country. You can climb it during regular daytime hours any time of year, but the after-hours ghost tour is the fall move — a ghost hunt inside the old Keeper’s Quarters and a climb to the top of the tower, weather permitting. One thing to plan for: the lighthouse is on the Navy base, so you’ll need a valid ID and should check current base access rules before you go.
Worth the drive

Haunted Acres
📍 2948 River Road, Vernon | opens Friday, October 2, gates at 7 PM
A haunted trail through the woods at Fox Hollow — scare actors, masked monsters, sinister clowns, fog, and strobe lighting on uneven ground. It’s graphic, and not for kids under 13. Parking is free; check their website for this year’s ticket prices. Vernon is well east of Navarre, up past Panama City, so this one’s a commitment.
Escape from Blackwood Forest
📍 4728 U.S. Highway 90 West, DeFuniak Springs | October 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30, 7 PM–midnight
A short outdoor haunted trail, about a fifth of a mile, from the Nightmare Factory crew. It’s a newer one without much of a track record yet, but it’s another option if you’re already headed that way. Ticket details weren’t posted when we checked.
